What Should I Ask AI? A Guide for Beginners

If you are staring at a blank chat box, start with these simple question types.

Ask AI to explain

If you are learning something new, ask AI to explain it in plain English. You can add your level, like: 'Explain this to me like I am new to AI and run a small business.'

This is helpful for understanding terms, tools, and ideas without getting buried in jargon.

Ask AI to improve

AI is useful for improving something you already wrote. Paste a draft and ask it to make the writing clearer, warmer, shorter, or more professional.

You can say, 'Improve this without changing the meaning,' which helps keep your original message intact.

Ask AI to brainstorm

When you need ideas, ask for options. Try prompts like, 'Give me ten ideas for...' or 'Give me three different ways to approach this.'

You do not have to use every idea. The point is to get unstuck and find a direction.

Ask AI to organize

AI can turn messy notes into a clean list, outline, checklist, or plan. This is one of the easiest ways to see value quickly.

Try: 'Organize these notes into key points, action items, and next steps.'

Ask AI to give you a first draft

A first draft can save a lot of time. Ask AI to draft an email, post, outline, FAQ, or script, then edit it so it sounds like you.

AI is often best at getting the first version started. Your review makes it useful and real.
